GENERAL INFO We see resting in Being as the greatest joy there is. As human Beings we long for true unfading peace, happiness and love. Most of us know by now this is not found ‘out there’, but by turning within. By dropping our stories, going beyond our fixed ideas, we will surely discover Home within our selves. During our Release & Realise retreat we will share with you powerful tools and pointers to go beyond and see through the limited ideas we have about ourselves. We will meet and release built up tensions and stress so that we can realise what we are in essence. Every day there will be a variety of practices such as silent and guided meditations, therapeutic breath-work, yin and vinyasa yoga, as well as plenty of time to hike, swim, unwind & simply Be. Our retreat location is tranquil, up in the mountains, with no wifi or phone connection, helping us to find a deeper connection with our Selves! For who? This retreat is for everybody who longs to lead an authentic life. For the ones that want to live from Presence instead being under the influence of the tyranny of the ever restless ego-mind. For the people that are willing to face there shadow-sides and are being dedicated to do the inner-work necessary to grow spiritually. Some basic experience with meditation and yoga is desirable. What will it bring us? This retreat will be a big inner clean up. After this week we will feel spacious and calm, joyful and centred. We will feel peaceful and confident that nothing can compromise that peace. This week will give us a wide variety of tools we can use in our everyday life to find our true position again and to deepen the knowing that we are everlasting peace itself. Noble silence Besides the yoga and meditation sessions we offer another opportunity to deepen our self knowledge by being in noble silence in the mornings. Noble silence means that we give ourselves and each other the great gift, to rest our attention within by restraining from any form of communication. That includes verbal- and nonverbal communication as well reading, writing or any activity on your digital devices. When we are in noble silence a couple of hours a day, several important things will be revealed; such as we often use communication as an escape-route to avoid feeling what's inside. When we start to feel uncomfortable, restless or emotional, our conditioned reflex is to either suppress what we feel or to find some form of distraction. Also, the experience of mere silence or simply 'being' is oftentimes associated with boredom or anxiety and covered up by the mind's chattering inwardly or outwardly. Within the setting of a retreat where our intention is to embody more fully what we Truly are, we learn to observe the mind's strategies to avoid pain and seek pleasure. Becoming free from these habitual and oftentimes addictive tendencies requires devotion and willingness to face discomfort, past trauma and emotional turbulence with clarity and openness and not to loose ourselves in it. These hours of noble silence are a great invitation to gain insight into the mind's cunning tendencies, and learn not to follow them, but rather to stay as Presence also outside the formal yoga and meditation sessions. Pranayama and meditation In these early morning sessions, you will learn powerful breathing techniques that will clear your mind. When the mind becomes more spacious the recognition of ourselves as pure awareness becomes more available. Periods of breathing will be alternated with periods of meditation. We will prepare your mind for meditation by pointers that will tell you where to look, what meditation is and what it is not. Light breakfast A little snack to bridge the time to brunch. A smoothy, a piece of fruit or a light cracker. Don't eat too much! Yinyoga Yin yoga is a very slow and inward form of asana yoga. The poses are very passive in nature and will be held for longer periods of time. The result is a very deep relaxation of the body and mind, it will allow you to move effortlessly into a state of deep meditation. Vinyasa yoga In these sessions we will strengthen and loosen up our bodies, by sets of asanas strung together by the breathe. To make you feel more at home in the body and get your entire energy moving. These sessions accustom you with the act of being in feeling contact with your body, it will help you to focus your attention and to dissolve blockages by breathing into them in loving awareness. A strong subtle body will highly improve the quality of your silent sittings. Breath-work In a breath circle we will explore the possibilities and profound effect of conscious circular breathing. During circular breathing, we remove the pauses between the in- and exhalation and the ex- and inhalation. Our breathing becomes circular, without any intermissions. Both the in- and out breath are done through the mouth. The inhalation is full and deep, the exhalation is completely relaxed. Circular breathing is a therapeutic technique, that allows you to enter into a process where that which is unconscious in you may come into the light - to be seen and released. It enables you to be both the experiencer as the observer simultaneously. When we consciously breathe with this awareness, we make it possible to resolve, integrate and heal previously unresolved tensions or issues within ourselves. This frees up energy, bringing greater aliveness and joy, and feeling spacious in body and mind. Seva/ Karma yoga
Part of the retreat is the possibility to do seva. Seva means selfless service. Going into a retreat means the willingness to go into process with oneself. When unprocessed energies from the past are coming up during a retreat one great way of integrating is to do seva. To do something practical with our hands and offer our time, love and energy is a great gift to ourselves and the place that facilitates our retreat. Part of the seva is to wash our own plates and cutlery after each meal. Other forms of seva could be gardening, painting, and anything creative that may beautify the place. Focus sessions In these sessions we will practice as a group or in pairs to look within and see what is alive in the moment. By following a sequence of simple questions we are inviting you to discover your dynamics as a person. Upon honestly seeing these fluctuations in loving awareness they will lose their power over you, blockages and constipations will dissolve and you will start to experience the vastness and joy of your true being. Silent sittings During our silent sittings, we sit for longer times while resting the attention in the sense of being. Once we have recognised ourselves as pure consciousness we can remain in this recognition, this is the true meaning of meditation. To simply rest in this sense of being, will allow all our inauthentic conditioning to come to the surface, where it can be seen as such and dissolve. Sharing circles Every day we will have a sharing circle. Sharing means that we come together in small groups in which everyone has a chance to share how he or she feels in the moment. The fact that the listeners are simply present and do not respond with the mind, but simply listen from the heart is very nourishing since we are allowed to be and experience exactly who we are and what we are feeling. Being together in a space of loving presence is very healing for the abandoned, suppressed or hurt parts within us and helps to give these parts a voice. We will deeper connect with ourselves in these sharing-circles and at the same time will feel more sense of belonging and connection in the group. Ecstatic dance In a save environment, without talking, we will dance with the feel of the body. Opening up to the music, using breathe and spontaneous movement, unhindered by the mind, we will dissolve tensions and travel deeper into ecstasy. Fire ceremony A ceremony is a form of yoga through which we reach single pointed attention to let go of what no longer serves us. Kirtan Singing mantras (devotional songs) together. A form of bhakti Yoga to still our minds and open our hearts. Retreat venue Our retreat place is hidden in the mountains of tranquil north-east Ibiza, close to Cala St. Vicente. It is walking distance from a sacred cave with stunning view, and many magnificent walking trails through the dense woods which some reach down to the turquoise Balearic sea. Don't expect the retreat place to be luxurious; instead it is raw and back to basic, including eco toilet, electricity coming from solar panels, wood fire (heaters) and a lovely outside shower with a view. It will help to bring us back to what is truly essential in life leaving all unnecessary distractions out. Living a deeply content life with mere simplicity and feeling appreciation for the resources of mother nature. Our retreat location is surrounded by red earthy acres and wild nature including innumerable birds and some cute cats. The outside wooden yoga platform is 3 minutes walking distance from the accommodation buildings; super quiet, and surrounded by trees that provide enough shade during our practices. Ibiza Island Some places on earth are called power places and this is not without a reason. Ibiza is one of them. From our own experience of living on the island for longer periods of time we can say the vibration of Ibiza is similar to that of a guru; it brings to the surface what still needs to be faced within us. It is truly a fascinating contrast; the idyllic island atmosphere and breathtaking scenery and at the same time the intense penetrating energy that can expose within us what needs to be met as an opportunity to embody our True Nature more fully. Being on the island within the context of our Release & Realise retreat is an invitation to be in Truth, and can be truly transformative. It's essential to view these retreats in Ibiza not simply as enjoyable yoga holidays, but as an opportunity to be open and willing to face our shadow sides which is not always comfortable and pleasant, but very rewarding in terms of feeling deeply connected with ourselves and life.
