Inspired by the Focussing steps by Eugene Gendlin, hereby I offer a program to learn and practice this very efficient embodied form of self inquiry that can set us free from unprocessed experiences, emotions, and limiting beliefs that are stored in our bodies.
Why Embodied Coaching?
Throughout life -especially early age- we have had experiences that we could not always felt and processed in the moment. These unmet experiences can create patterns and blockages that remain in our mental, physical, and emotional bodies. What happens is that we start to see ourselves, others, and the world through this filter of unprocessed emotions that bring into existence limiting thought patterns. So our vision is obscured due to the unmet pain of the past. Most of the times we also tend to react from this old unfelt pain and therefor fuel it, empower it, and the cycle of suffering and ignorance continues.
What is it exactly?
Through the coaching practice of focussing we observe our current life and see where it is not flowing; what seems to be in the way of being truly happy and fulfilled? Using this current story of our life as an entry point, we then dive into our bodies and explore -with the help of several meditative steps and questions- where we find that issue as a direct experience in our body, also called the felt sense. When we consciously meet and feel in our bodies that which is hidden or unmet, it starts to relax and unravel, we call this a bodily shift. Stuck energies, or unclear feelings that where hidden or unmet start to integrate and we feel a deep sense of release and wholeness. So the experience that we normally try to run away from, or find distraction from, now becomes our doorway to wholeness, insight, and embodied freedom. In these eight weeks we will learn to practice this very effective therapeutic inquiry in 1 to 1 sessions but also learn to apply it to ourselves. The meditative space that occurs when we are together in a group is very supportive in the process of releasing and integrating old stuck experiences and energies.
